Dr Uyeki is the Chief Medical Officer in the Influenza Division, U.S. CDC, with interests in antiviral treatment and clinical management of influenza and respiratory viral infections, human infections with avian influenza A viruses, and emerging viral infectious diseases. He is a Clinical Co-Chair of the 2024 World Health Organization Influenza Guidelines and also co-chaired the Infectious Diseases Society of America Influenza Clinical Practice Guidelines published in 2019. He has been a WHO consultant on seasonal, avian, and pandemic influenza, Ebola, SARS, MERS, and COVID-19. He was a member of the NIH COVID-19 Treatment Guidelines Panel (March 2020 to March 2024) and the WHO Guidelines Development Group on Therapeutics and COVID-19, and is a Clinical Professor in the Department of Pediatrics, University of California, San Francisco School of Medicine.
